Community Involvement

The Consent Decree expressly contemplates the meaningful involvement of the community. Specifically, Paragraph 461 of the Consent Decree provides that the monitoring team "shall meet with community stakeholders to explain the Monitor's reports, to inform the public about the Agreement implementation process, and to hear community perspectives of police interactions."

The NOPD Consent Decree Monitor will hold two public meetings on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 to explain the Monitor’s recent public reports and inform the public on the status of the implementation of the NOPD Consent Decree. Questions and comments for the Monitoring Team are welcome from any member of the New Orleans community, including the media.

Quarterly Meetings

The Office of the Consent Decree Monitor (OCDM) conducts quarterly meetings following the release of each progress report to ensure that citizens are aware and informed of implementation of the Consent Decree and the policies and procedures resulting from implementation.

All quarterly meetings will be open to the public and held in ADA accessible venues. Quarterly meetings are noticed via print and electronic media.
