IMPORTANT NOTICE
On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, due to the hard work of the New Orleans Police Department and the New Orleans community, the NOPD Consent Decree came to a successful conclusion. Following a joint motion by the City and the U.S. Department of Justice, United States District Court Judge Susie Morgan signed an order terminating the Consent Decree issued in U.S. v. The City Of New Orleans (Civil Action No. 12-1924). The court’s order brought to an end the Monitoring Team’s role in New Orleans.
The final Consent Decree court proceeding, held at the Loyola New Orleans College of Law on November 19, 2025, featured presentations from Judge Susie Morgan, Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick, lead Monitor Jonathan Aronie, and many others. The proceeding also featured presentations by several NOPD officers who shared their personal observations regarding what NOPD’s reform efforts have meant to them.
The proceeding was live-streamed, and a full recording is available HERE.
